About the Cathedral

Our Cathedral is a tired beauty, and with every storm a little more is washed away.

As we prepare to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Cathedral in 2022, the Cathedral is undergoing a new stage of urgent and extensive conservation and restoration works.

We pray it will become a place of international pilgrimage as we work together to achieve the Pontifical blessing that will enable Sts Peter and Paul’s Old Cathedral to become Australia’s sixth Basilica.
